Confess Your Faults

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed,” says James 5:16. Through my Christian walk, I have realized the importance of this verse. This verse is a huge key for a young man to have a steadfast walk with God. Now, we can tend to think of “confessing your faults one to another” as a broad kind of confession, like to confess to everyone at church—but for us as young men, it especially applies to our relationship with our dads. How much do you share your struggles with your dad?

Seeds of the Kingdom

The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field. Matthew 13:24
And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works. Hebrews 10:24

In this series, we intend to highlight the work of those who are currently busy introducing the seeds of righteousness, peace, and joy into this sin-filled earth, with the hopes that at least a few lives will receive the Word and be eternally changed. The purpose in turning the spotlight on these works is not to glorify those men and women who are actively advancing the kingdom of God, but rather to stimulate YOU, the reader, into doing YOUR part in YOUR corner. Neither is the purpose meant to be that of asking the readers to donate financially or personally participate in these projects, although that is certainly an option in some cases. Take these ideas, tweak them to fit your situation, and begin to plant the kingdom of God in your environs. The inclusion of any person or church in these articles is not an endorsement by The Heartbeat of the Remnant of every doctrine and practice that the spotlighted individuals or churches may represent in other areas of their life. As well, the spotlighted person/group may not endorse all aspects of The Heartbeat of the Remnant.

Three Stories of Grace

Three typical American “Christians.”

Three happily-married people with families they love.

Then, three very shocking moments of truth:

“I am living in adultery!”

It takes grace to obey, to align ourselves to the teaching of Jesus. Our flesh will usually go into outright rebellion at His calls to righteousness and holiness.

But to glorify Him in all we do, we must obey His revealed will.

And that takes grace.

These three testimonies reveal how the grace of God enabled people to crucify their natural desires and let Christ reign in them. Agony, doubts, objections from well-meaning friends and family; but finally peace and freedom as they submit themselves to the righteousness of Christ.

Yes, they are testimonies of “the true grace of God!” 1 Pe. 5:12

God in His mercy and grace blessed us with another week of Youth Bible School this past November. Christ's Message to American Christians

Christ's Message to American Christians, by Roger Hertzler

As we examine God’s Word from cover to cover, we find that every part of it points in some way to the person of Jesus Christ. The Old Testament points forward to Him, the Gospels reveal Him, and the rest of the New Testament points back to Him. Even the other two persons of the Trinity point to Christ. Jesus said of the Holy Spirit that “He shall testify of Me” and “He shall glorify Me”. God the Father said about Jesus, “This is My beloved Son: hear Him.” And Hebrews 1:1-2 tells us that whereas God in former times had spoken through prophets, He has “in these last days spoken to us by His Son.”

From Africa

The van der Merwe familyI am delighted to write a brief update about the Lord’s work here in Namibia, especially in our lives. We have quite a story to tell of God’s dealings with us until now. We started out totally ignorant and for that reason many unpleasant things were used of God to show us on the way that we are in today. I am sure we must be among those with whom God is most patient. Many things could have been avoided would there have been more mature brothers around to lead us by their example. But alas, we were alone in Africa; seeking God with thousands of other confused “Christians” around; only the Lord could help us.
